Common questions

Will my computer be shared with other companies?

No. The system is private to your business. It isn’t shared hardware, it isn’t a slice of someone else’s cloud, and no other company’s work runs on it. That’s true on every plan, including the smallest one. It’s how we work, not a feature you add on.

What does “looked after” actually mean?

We keep the foundation underneath your website running. The setting up. The updates. The watching. The backups. The address-book settings. The reply at odd hours when something breaks. You run your business.

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. You won’t need to type anything into a command line, learn Linux, or set anything up yourself. That’s the whole reason we exist. You run your business. We handle the rest.

Can you move my site or app from where it is now?

Usually, yes. We move regular websites, business software, and data across from another hosting company. We look at what you’ve got first, write the plan down, then do the move at a time that works for you.

Are backups included?

Yes. Every plan gets the same: a backup every day, kept for 30 days. A copy of one of those every month, kept for 6 months. And one copy a year. If you need more than that, we’ll set it up as a custom plan.

What if I grow out of my plan?

We move you to a bigger one. We pick a time, do the switch, you carry on. Growing shouldn’t be a problem.

Can I ask questions before signing up?

Yes, and we actually prefer that. A few messages back and forth usually save both of us picking the wrong-sized plan, or having to redo the move later. Get in touch.

Is this for people who want to resell hosting?

No. This is for businesses that want their own setup looked after. If you want to buy hosting cheaply and sell it on to other companies, we’re not the right fit, and we’d rather tell you that now.

Why does this cost more than the hosting I see advertised online?

Most of what’s advertised online is shared hosting or a slice of a public cloud, with no one looking after it on your behalf. You’re paying for a small piece of a big machine alongside thousands of other customers, and any problem is yours to figure out. AABox is the opposite of that. Your own private system, looked after by us. That’s a different kind of service and it’s priced for what it is.
